This is one I’ve read about but only just this year got around to trying. The sunflowers were huge! The seeds were tiny! They are supposed to make a purple dye, but when we tried them in the Textile Trio dye workshop the yarn looked gray coming out of the dye pot. After it dried, it had a more greenish cast, and was nice if unexpected. We had briefly thought about cracking the seeds before making the dye, but they were too small to make it worthwhile. The chickens liked them just fine, though.
